Since 1999, the Tourism Summit in Chamonix are the principal location for deep reflection into the problems of sustainability, equilibrium between the environment, the economy, society and culture with the development in tourism. During this third edition of the Tourism Summit, a Sustainable Development in Tourism Prize will be attribute. It became apparent to us that numerous projects in sustainable development in tourism, lacked the means and the methodology (how to harmonise projects of differing priorities, which business plan to use, how to finance, etc). The Tourism Summits have therefore devised a Sustainable Development in Tourism Prize, aimed at rewarding and assisting a project already in the pipeline, no matter its stage of development. If you have a project, don't hesitate to participate, the best will be prized ! If you want to participate, please fill the registration form before november 30th 2001. The presentation dossier should include the registration form as well as descriptive documentation of the project (2 pages, documents will not be turn back), which must be accompanied by a synopsis in French or English. It must contain a descriptive of the objectives, listed in the form of weaknesses for which the project suggests a solution and a list of proposed actions highlighting the points below. The listing of the candidates and the prize giving will take place at the close of the summit. The evaluation criteria for each project are : The economic feasibility of the project and its impact on local economic development How the project will be put into place & its social insertion The defence of local culture and identity The preservation & display of the environment Its durability, underlining the equilibrium between economic development and the social, cultural & environmental aspects, touched by the project. The winner(s) will benefit of : A methodological assistance, throughout the project, by the Tourism Summit experts The support of the Tourism Summits by having the use of its label The presentation of the project during the scientific sessions of the Tourism Summits The communication through media and experts during the third Tourism Summit The closing date for registration is midnight on 30th November 2001.   Rules and regulations Registration form
