A Communication from the Municipal Committee for the Young, at the Tourism summits

 

The youngsters of Chamonix and the Municipal Committee for the Young are happy and proud to welcome the participants of the first world tourism summits.

We have the enormous luck to live in a region known the world over, in a setting with a quality of life that we wish to preserve at all costs.

Our valley has a beauty rich in nature, everyone knows Mont-Blanc of course, but let's not forget the other spectacular peaks ; the magnificant glaciers which surround us ; the forests at the mercy of the seasons, which transform themselves into the most extraordinary colours.

Thanks to its diversity, it is pleasant to live in this valley. We appreciate the peace and quiet of its villages, the kindness of its inhabitants and the solidarity which binds us together when faced with tragedy, which we experienced yet again not long ago...

Each season we enjoy the return of the thousands of tourists who climb our mountains, gleefully hurtle down our snowy slopes, or simply savour the wonders of our local cuisine in the numerous restaurants in our resort.

We rub shoulders with people of every special background, from around the entire world, for which we are enormously enriched.

We hope to live, work and build our lives in this valley to which we are very attached, so let's hope that it stays as pleasing to live here for all its inhabitants.

We hope that your work will help us to preserve the nature and activities of our valley.
