Sustainable development ?

  • Sustainble development is
    • a continuous process in progress
    • a target to aim at rather than a “state of fact”, it is not a demarcation line
    • It encourages continuity of actions and time
    • Transformation concepts

  • Sustainable development is defined by the “degree of sustainability” which must increase with time.

Sustainability ?

  • Economic growth cannot equate to 0
  • Any dynamics create disorder and imbalance
  • The economy creates “disorder” in:
    • The environment in terms of pollution or nuisances
    • Social affairs in terms of the social exclusion or poverty of some citizens
  • Sustainability is therefore the control of these “disorders”, but that means expense and brings the capacity for decision-making into play
