Turin is surrounded by the Alpine range and hills.

  • with more than 16 million squared metres of green spaces,
  • 400 kilometres of shady avenues,
  • 17 big gardens and
  • linear park, more than 70 kilometres in length, along the four watercourses running through the city (the Po, the Dora Riparia, the Stura and the Sangone),

Turin has an environmental heritage that few cities in the world could boast of.

To preserve and improve this great resource, the Municipality of Turin has implemented two major projects : "Torino Città d'Acque" (Turin, City of Waters) and "Corona Verde". The first provides for enhancing the environmental value of all the banks of the watercourses and the second relates to the creation of a route which would connect all the main urban parks, forming a crown of green areas of 12 million additional squared metres.

The Turin Hill represents a territory of great interest on an environmental, architectural or landscape level.

Two regionally protected areas are located on the City's territory :

From the city centre, both parks can be reached on foot.

The main gardens in the city are :

  • the Giardini Reali de Palazzo Reale in Piazza Castello and
  • the Parco del Valentino which meanders along the Po.

Vines form part of the landscape surrounding Turin. Yet another chance to take a stroll with nature.
